Nanoblock is created by first machining a titanium ring from a solid bar at our studio in Melbourne. The ring, once in its final form is then sent to a specialist where glass beads are shot at the ring in a stream of pressurised air. This creates the stunning matte finish.
In its raw from, the matte finished ring is very vulnerable to scratches. We solve this problem by applying a layer of aluminium chromium nitride over the surface. A multi-million dollar facility takes the ring through a series of thorough cleaning processes until it is free from contaminants.
The ring is placed on an electrode in a physical vapour deposition machine within which a vacuum is created. The aluminium chromium nitride is vapourised within the chamber, and is then attracted to the charged ring
